On June 25, 2024, the much-anticipated 23rd GPOWER Power Exhibition opened in grand style. The world-renowned power technology giant Cummins, with its two enterprises - Chongqing Cummins and Cummins Generator Technology - showed up at the exhibition with a series of innovative power products, demonstrating its latest R&D achievements and technological strength in the field of power generation.
At this year's exhibition, Cummins displayed four new products, including advanced diesel engines, gas engines, high-voltage generators and high-performance 6-pole generators, which fully demonstrated Cummins' innovative capability in the field of power technology and its deep understanding of customers' needs.
Upgraded Version of K Series Gas Engine The upgraded version of K series gas engine produced by Cummins Chongqing became one of the highlights of the exhibition. The engine has high-precision electronic fuel control, a wide range of calorific value adjustments, fast adjustment of the air-fuel ratio, and a thermal efficiency of up to 42%. Its powerful universal design, excellent oil consumption level and up to 10-year overhaul cycle bring significant total cost of ownership optimization for users.
The upgraded version of the K-Series gas engine reaches a maximum power of 1,500kWm and is suitable for a wide range of applications such as oil and gas fields, farms and waste treatment plants. The product extends the hardware configuration and control strategy for the whole series, expanding the applicable gas sources from natural gas and biogas to oilfield associated gas, industrial tail gas, low-concentration gas, LPG, etc. Meanwhile, it supports hydrogen-doped natural gas, and the maximum hydrogen-doped ratio can reach 20%, which demonstrates Cummins' leading position in the field of gas engines. Upgraded Version of New Platform Electronically Controlled Engine The upgraded version of the new platform electronically controlled engine launched by Cummins Chongqing attracted much attention. The engine adopts the new two-stage turbocharging and Cummins high-pressure common rail fuel system, which provides a solid foundation for efficient combustion and realizes higher power density: the highest power of the QSK19 series can reach 801kWm. The highest power of QSK38 series can reach 1,548kWm, and the transient response meets the requirements of the G3 class of ISO8528 standard.
The engine has been designed and developed for practical application scenarios, which significantly improves the reliability and durability of each system. The application of intelligent environmental parameter detection and control technology enables the engine to maintain excellent performance in different environments. In addition, the customized development for plateau application scenarios also fully demonstrates Cummins' excellent performance under extreme conditions. High Voltage Star S9 Product Line Expansion In the field of generator technology, Cummins also demonstrates strong innovative strength. The STAMFORD® S9 high-voltage, high-altitude product, as the star of the high-voltage series, has expanded its product line after more than a year of market testing. New voltage options and G/H cores have increased the power range of the S9 product family from 3700kVA to 4500kVA, meeting the needs of more users.
New S7 Family Member Enters Medium-Speed Segment The STAMFORD® S7 6-pole machine, a new member of the S7 product family, also made its debut at the show. This heavyweight in the field of medium-speed machines covers a wide range of power bands and is suitable for many applications. Its design concept combines the advantages of STAMFORD® and AvK® products, and after a long period of rigorous design development and validation, it ensures the stability and reliability of the product.
