Recently, ZOOMLION delivered 40 unmanned mining trucks to a large open-pit mine in Xinjiang. This marks the implementation of its integrated green intelligent mining solution centered on “green power + full-stack intelligence,” ushering in a new chapter in green intelligent mining operations.
The mining industry is accelerating its intelligent upgrade, with deep integration of “artificial intelligence + mining.” As core equipment, unmanned mining trucks have become a key driver for cultivating new productive forces in the mining sector. The industry's demands for their efficient, stable, controllable, and safe performance are also becoming increasingly stringent. The delivered unmanned mining trucks were jointly developed by ZOOMLION and Xidi Intelligent Driving. Built upon ZOOMLION's ZT160HEV—the world's largest hybrid wide-body vehicle—they feature a full-stack autonomous and controllable technology system. This enables advanced path planning, coordinated excavator-truck operations, and full-scenario, all-weather unmanned workflows precisely tailored to complex mining site requirements. To ensure efficient project implementation and rapid production launch, the ZOOMLION project team overcame multiple technical challenges amid extreme mining conditions—including temperatures as low as -25°C (-31°F) and winds reaching force 9. Through pre-positioning personnel and spare parts, along with integrated sales-service-R&D collaboration, the team completed the entire process from equipment assembly and debugging to production launch in just 30 days, setting a new industry benchmark for large-scale delivery speed. Currently, all delivered equipment operates continuously and stably, maintaining a long-term availability rate above 95%, earning high recognition from the client.
The ZT160HEV hybrid mining truck, serving as the core carrier, is specifically engineered for high-intensity, long-cycle mining operations. It boasts leading advantages in load capacity, energy efficiency, and safety. Its front-mounted steer-by-wire chassis flexibly accommodates mainstream intelligent driving solutions, laying a robust foundation for the safety and reliability of unmanned operations from the design stage. Compared to traditional manned mining trucks, this fleet of unmanned vehicles achieves multi-dimensional operational breakthroughs: frontline personnel are significantly reduced, fundamentally lowering transportation safety risks in mining operations; combined with the fuel efficiency and heavy-load advantages of super hybrid technology, both labor and operational costs are cut; eliminating factors like manual scheduling and fatigue increases transportation efficiency by approximately 10% and output by 15%. Systematic intelligent control maintains equipment performance at optimal levels, maximizing lifecycle value. Beyond advanced intelligent equipment, ZOOMLION has established a comprehensive gold-standard service support system for this project: establishing dedicated spare parts warehouses at the mine site, implementing rapid-response technical support and maintenance mechanisms, and developing customized maintenance plans for extreme cold climates. This ensures all-weather stable equipment operation, providing robust service backing for efficient project production.
